If you live in the country what kind of fuel should a range cooker use? When you live in a rural area you are limited as to the type of fuel you can use in your cooker. The choice is governed by local services, price and personal preference; for example it would be unwise to choose a gas cooker if there is no local supplier of gas, or if you have to order too far in advance.
Oil is usually readily available and it is possible to store a large amount in various sized tanks, however the price is extremely volatile, so powering your range cooker with oil could also be a non starter.
Electric range cookers or multi fuel burning stoves are probably the best idea when out in the countryside. Electricity is usually very reliable and can also be backed up by a generator. Multi fuel stoves can run off most types of timber or pellets nad waste materials however they are quite expensive.
The benefit of multi fuel burning stoves is that you can use it to heat hot water and sometimes they will also power the central heating.
